Name: Caleb
Country: United States
State: Iowa
Birthday: 1/17/1984
Gender: Male

Interests: I am interested in running, reading (I especially like C.S. Lewis and Tolkien), writing, studying the Bible, driving (not more than 15 hours at once!), seeing new places, traveling, good conversations with people, linguistics, theology, and (heaven forbid!) math. Most importantly I want to live for my savior Jesus Christ and let him live in me, even though I can't even start to pay him back for all He has done
Expertise: I can (or will be able to) speak Spanish, and I guess most of my interests would qualify (I'm not sure I'm an "expert" at driving though). I also know something about lawn mowers, since that is my dad's business Weaknesses: too many to list, but might include absentmindedness, difficulty remembering details, and difficulty being interested in details

I'm not sure how many people will notice this since I so rarely update.  I'm home now, and I've finished college.  I miss everybody, and it is hard thinking that it will be a long time till I see my college friends again, and then probably not all together.  Oh well, life has its transitions, and it is time to move from one stage of life to the next.

Today I went to one of my sister's trackmeet.  Actually I rode there on my new bike.  It is unseasonably cold, and it is wierd to think I am done with my track season so early when it is just past mid-season for high-schoolers (well, technically I could still be at EMU still running track).

Today my dad's computer guy finally got there three computer network up again after I rebooted the server and the drive that has all the accounting data refused to be mapped as a network drive.  I really shouldn't have rebooted the server, but this isn't what was supposed to happen.  There are hard drives laying around everywhere, ones for backup and one that is supposed to be just for cloning the local drives whenever there's a software upgrade.  At any rate Jeremy thinks we should have a computer completely dedicated to be the server (not a workstation) because he thinks some software is interfering with the setup.  All this networking is beyond me, and I need to know this kind of stuff if I'm going to Honduras, where I would both be teaching computers and be in charge of a computer lab.  That will be coming up too soon, and I really I am on the path God wants for me.

Monday I will start a sort of temporary job at Pearson's, and educational firm that publishes a lot of textbooks, and I would be scoring writing sections of what SOL tests (or the equivalent) for $11 an hour.  There will be breaks between projects so I will still work for dad when I'm not there.

That's my life at the moment.  Could seem kind of lonesome, but it isn't as long as I don't think about it that way.

Spring Break is here!
Soon I will be heading with some friends first to Richmond, and then to Georgia to the same place I went over fall break.  I have a cousin who lives in Richmond, so hopefully I will get to see him when he returns from work on Sunday.
This semester is going by so fast.  Sometimes life is hard to keep up with.  I will take work along with me to do, and I have to keep to a track schedule, but I also hope to get relaxing in too.
I am just starting to read the book of Romans again, hoping to receive new insights as I read it.  God is faithful always.  My life seems like it consists of all sorts of random puzzle peices that I have no idea how to put together, so I am praying that God knows.

So it is clear that I am pretty bad at writing blogs at any sort of frequency, and it is also clear that it is a lot easier to have time when you are home for the holidays.  So I made it all the way home from Virginia, driving with Justin Hochstettler.  Including all stops, I made it to my house just minutes under 15 hours after we left.  Maybe if we hadn't run into traffic in Charleston, WV it would have been closer to 14.5.  Boo to gas stations that don't have restrooms forcing us to have to stop at the next one (after we filled up) and notice that the next station not only had restrooms, but was also selling gas 10 cents cheaper.

We have a lot of snow on the ground, more than any other Christmas.  And I don't think it will be melting real soon.  So I'm not going on Cross Cultural or anything this time around, but next semester will be my last at EMU, which is a scary thought.  Last chance to spend lots of time with significant people including my suitemates.

So I just got a call from a Credit Card company, asking if I wanted to apply over the phone now for a new card.  The lady was nice enough when I said I already had a card (maybe she's a new employee).  The amazing thing is my sister's said they never get calls asking for me.  Apparently card companies are alknowing and know where I am at any given moment.

As for "Currently Listening to"... There's like 10 CDs and a bunch of radio stations I could pick from that I've listened to in the last 24 hours.

Yeah for a pr at ODACs.  29:03.   Not quite sub29, that will have to come at regionals.  It was a 90% wooded course, which is what I like.

Over fall break I went to Georgia which was also awesome.  It didn't help me get a head start on the challenges of the following week, but having a good time is still worth it.  We had hilarious conversation.

I have a funny story:
A couple of days ago, Aaron (my roommate) went to bed early.  He asked if it was OK to turn the light off and I said yes.  So he turned off the light, but I didn't notice that he turned off the light and went to turn the light off, but instead turned it on.  This puzzled Aaron, who thought he miss heard me and I really did want the light on after all.  I didn't realize the light was now on until I got to my desk and wondered why Aaron turned the light back on.

Other news:  Josh Leland is coming this weekend, so that means it will be a weekend full of fun and little work accomplished.  I am going to Gettysburg on Saturday to run, but that won't last all day at least, and everyone else will be sleeping half the time I'm gone.
